NEW MUSIC: DOMENICO BIANCARDI
Regular readers may remember that I’ve posted a few tracks by Italy’s Domenico Biancardi over the past few months. Here are a couple more.
First up, a remix of a Don Rimini track. This was done following a competition at the marvellous Discobelle.net blog. French demon producer Don Rimini just released his “Kick N Run EP” on which the track “Hools” is included. In collaboration with Darling Department and Mental Groove Records Discobelle gave out the parts to the track with the hope that “you’ll remix the hell out of them.”
I’ve no idea what the original sounds like but Domenico has produced a glitchy electro track with a bit of distortion in the right places, about which he says “A style was like Switch, that I call breaks style.” An accomplished remix but perhaps lacking a strong bass underpinning to give it true oomph.
Second, a moment of madness or perhaps pleasure for those in love with all things from the 1980s. In 1987, Sabrina had a huge European hit with “Boys (Summertime Love). It reached No. 3 in the UK, largely on account of the video in which she almost explodes from her bikini. For reasons known only to himself, Domenico has decided to remix it. Another one in the glitchy breaks style. But the remix doesn’t save it, unless you’re one of those for whom Timmy Mallet is a style icon.
