NEW MUSIC: AMAN ELLIS

Last post for this brief return. Seemed appropriate to end with something that looks forward rather than backwards. Aman Ellis (me neither) has a new EP out “All The Things”.

Go have a listen on Soundcloud and buy at Beatport. Ignore the rubbish cover which makes it look as though this is cheap psychadelia. All the tracks have an almost-analogue warmth. The track to go for is “Five Days Til Jupiter” which has a lovely early Warp feel. A modern classic. Wouldn’t sound out of place on a B12 album – “Time Tourist” perhaps, for those with longer memories. “Dawn on the Red Planet” is a gentle, minimal track, with a repeated central refrain giving it a trance-like quality. “In Tune With Neptune” starts off a bit clicky but then develops into the closest to a dancefloor track, with its Detroit sounds. The title track should be avoided at all costs – nasty vocoder (brrr).

“All The Things” is the freshman release from Brooklyn resident, Aman Ellis. This EP is sure to please both music fans and critics alike. His electronic music production has come a long way since the beginning, and it shows on “All The Things.” Ellis brings a melodic quality to tech house that doesn’t happen very often. The combination of groove and melody make this an easy choice for any house music lover or deejay who is trying to set the mood right. “All The Things” is something worth checking out, and we’re looking forward to his next one.
