LFO
Something quite rare for you. Not sure I’ve ever seen this on t’internet. A version of LFO’s Tied Up on flexidisc.
LFO were Mark Bell and Gez Varley (previously here). Their pioneering reputation exceeds their releases despite a decade spanning career. In summary: LFO (Low Frequency Oscillation), named after the Low Frequency Oscillator component of synthesizers, were pioneers of the Sheffield “bleep techno” sound in the UK at the start of the 1990′s and are best known for the early self-titled techno anthem “LFO“.
The track for today is from a flexidisc given away with Jockey Slut magazine in early 1995, limited to 5,000 copies, and coincides with LFO’s period on Warp Records. Because it is from a flexidisc the sound is a bit rough and the track itself short and abrasive. I was also unsure of the speed of the record. Last night 45rpm, this morning 33rpm. I’ve therefore wimped out and offered both. But I’m absolutely sure that it’s 33rpm. Probably.

[...] we had an LFO track yesterday, I thought we’d have LFO remixing Sabres of Paradise [...]
This mix is on the “Bugged Out Classics” compilation actually – interesting story behind it on that compilation though is they had to rip it from the flexi also as there are apparently no masters of this remaining.
They certainly think it’s 33 also, but knowing Weatherall could be either.
Weatherall ? Eh … serves me right for listening to Weathrall post above whilst typing something else.
It’s the kind of thing Weatherall and LFO would do then
