NEW MUSIC: Crookers – Hummus (Maribou State Remix)
I was slightly lukewarm about Maribou State’s single – Got Me Down – yesterday. To redress that, here’s a positive recommendation of a remix they’ve done for Crookers of their single Hummus, which is availabile to download and buy. ‘Space’ and ‘chill’ are the key words here.
No idea what the original mix is like. This remix brings a lightness of touch and yet has something curiously modern electro pop about the structures but without the sheer busy-ness that seems to dominate. What is left is light on beats and bass, relying on clicks and blocks and a bit of flute. Really rather lovely.
