Villa Kang – Hallucinat​ing Arkansas

Canadian, Villa Kang makes out-of-the-ordinary dance music. This is psychadelia given a dance spin in something approaching a shoegaze manner – if that isn’t too many comparators for one sentence to bear. Free download.
 
Hallucinating Arkansas is a bleary, hazy piece of psychedelia cavorting on the beach. Twangy steel guitar competes with synthetic handclaps and a shuffly beat. It all seems to come into and out of focus. The track heavily samples Memoryhouses’s To The Lighthouse, which sounds altogether a more conventional piece of wistful indie by comparison.

He’s releasing two tracks for free through his website and facebook as an a-side/b-side single. “Hallucinating Arkansas” (which samples Memoryhouse’s “To The Lighthouse”) & “Radio Dada” (a fun, psychedelic, track with the ethos of dadaism that uses a J Dilla inspired beat).
