Kraak and Smaak – My Synths Are The Bomb (D’Steph Remix)

Kraak & Smaak are a Dutch trio whose stuff tends towards the downtempo. This tune was first released over a year ago on their Electric Hustle album. But on their new Mixed Feelings release it’s been given a remix by Belgian artist D’Steph. Free download.

The original is a smooth piece of synth disco for gentle cosmic grooving. D’Steph keeps the relatively restrained feeling of the original but makes it darker and more twisted with the addition of undertow techno bass and some stabbing synths. Lovely work.

And if you like D’Steph’s remix, you might also like her own Rude Gal track which is a bit more bass heavy and is released on 9 July:

Blurb: Rising star D’Steph is fast approaching the premier league with her unique european production twist on deep house and breakbeat and her infectious DJ shows with her MC – JNM. Already well known in her native Belgium for her resident slots at clubs like Café D’Anvers and Club Geluk she has been a regular fixture behind the decks at the legendary FUSE, Kissinger and Petrol clubs and rocked the stage at massive festivals like Pukkelpop, I Love Techno and Ten days Off.When not manning (girling) the decks Steph is completing her studies as a media student meaning she has giving her the chance to come up with brilliant concept videos like this one for Remedy directed by Bart Callaerts who featured as a vocalist on the last D’Steph EP.
