Ben Howard – Old Pine (Peking Duk Remix)
Never heard of Ben Howard (British apparently) but he sounds a bit Paul Simon. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. His tune Old Pine has been given a quality going over by Aussie duo, the spelling casual, Peking Duk. Free download.
Old Pine is the first track from Ben’s debut album Every Kingdom. To be honest the original track is a bit sensible shoes and beards. It even remembers to put the toilet seat down. But the remix is another matter. It’s akin to Paul Simon’s Gracelands. Has a bit of jit guitar and beats. Everything’s less Swedish pine and a bit more painted wood. Lovely restrained leftfield remix.

Blurb: The last thing the old Chinese chef expected to see bursting out of the oven was two grinning youngsters sporting tousled hair and oversized festival singlets. The boys’ new single ‘Welcome’ hit a spanking #34 on the ARIA club chart, has already received plenty of radio airplay around the globe and has even gained support from industry legend Tiesto. Recently Peking Duk have gained a massive amount of attention from blogs around the world for their Passion Pit – Take A Walk remix, gaining over 70,000 plays in 2 weeks on their Soundcloud and hitting #1 spot for remixes on Hype Machine. Already from that they are doing remixes for the likes of Island/Universal records and there is certainly plenty more to come.
