Tim Engelhardt – All Eyes On You
Since I raved about Tim’s remixing this morning, I thought we might as well have a listen to his own release, out in September. Less tech, more deep house this time.
This is a very lush EP, with synths working hard to generate the atmosphere. Like the remix earlier, this feels preternaturally sophisticated. There’s little sense of abandon or loss of self-control. To take a cricket analogy, this is all rather Jonathan Trott – safe, solid stuff, accumulating big scores. In Abstracto is a simple yet lush piece of deep house. Possibly a bit wine bar. Sensual. Which is also the title of the second track. The EP title track breaks the lush dreaminess with a spot of house piano and a deep bass. Good but a bit safe.
