BICEP and EJECA – YOU

Warehouse rave. Yeah, I was there in ’88. Numbers to ring at the last minute to fool the rozzers. The music coming off and lights suddenly coming on the signs of yet another raid by the filth. Learning more about the junctions on the M25 than you ever knew were possible. And the pills back then. Wow. Nothing like the manky product you get now claiming to be E. We was aware of it being as momentous as ’68.

All lies. I wasn’t there. It all passed me by. Which kind of makes me slink away from anything which claims to have its roots in such warehouse raves. Like this little offering from Bicep & Ejeca. But this little tune isn’t the mindless drug hoover I imagined. Strings wash around in a painedl manner while female cries waft over the top. Beats are kept light, with a vague 2-step feel but there’s a darker underlying bass to wrap it all up. Moody but beautiful.

If you liked that, there’s also the other half of the release – Don’t – which is a more upbeat, soulful deep house kind of thing. Ok but not as interesting as You.

Blurb: Never wanting to dwell on one idea for too long, we’ve tried something totally different here. Joining forces with our good friend Gary aka Ejeca we’ve done a track heavily inspired by the early 90s warehouse rave era with a modern twist. Panorama bar’s Steffi has turned out a fantastic remix and the 12″ also includes a track we did with Omar from Waze & Odyssey! We’re very excited to be joining the mighty AUS family on this one! You can buy the digital release from Beatport and the 12″ from Juno or Phonica. If you haven’t done so already then make sure you have a listen to the exclisive mix we did for Fader here.
