Sohight feat. Cheevy – Get it Right (Follow Me Remix)
Russian producer Sohight gets his new 80s synth pop single remixed by Acid Ted favourites Follow Me. Listen or buy.
We’ve had a number of Follow Me remixes before. They’re usually lovely bits of downtempo synth action. But Sohight is unknown to me. The original mix of Get It Right is 80s pop rock funk, almost could be something from The Fast Show‘s Channel 9 productions. A bit of the so-bad-it’s-good thing. But, overall not pleasant.
What can Follow Me do with such unpromising material? First, the vocal gets largely lost. A good thing. Second, the jazz funk guitar bits get dialled down. A good thing. Third, the synths get turned up to 11. A good thing. What we are left with is something dreamily synthy that is a bit Pet Shop Boys and superior to the original. Nice one.

Blurb: After releasing their successful `High School` EP earlier this year, the second release from Sohight in collaboration with the singer Cheevy drops on Kiez Beats Records! `Get it Right` is again a unique blend of all the best influence you can get from the 80s mixed up with some really fresh & modern Nu Disco, French Electro Funk & Synthesizer Electro Pop. And `Get it Right` got remix interpretations from Italo Disco producer Stubbs, German Xtrafunk, Australian Patchwork, Follow Me & La Zebra, who slowed this one down and really flipped it into something pretty cool, heavy influenced from the golden years of disco. The release date is set on Beatport for July the 23rd. and 08th. August on all other webshops (iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and so on)!
