The Other Tribe – Skirts (Eat More Cake Remix)
Those young scamps Eat More Cake finally stop remixing dodgy 90s records (here and here) and go for something a little more contemporary with a remix of Bristol’s The Other Tribe and their paen to the summer, Skirts.
Skirts has appeared here before with a bunch of remixes, of which the Jody Wisternoff version was easily the best with it’s lush house approach. Perhaps it’s the recent bout of sunshine in London but Eat More Cake seem to be on a hormonal surge. Their version is a more uptempo house remix to encourage the shaking of body parts and the waving of hands in the air. This is a must for festivals and other outdoor dancing opportunities. Luckily, I am of an age where such hormonal surges are a thing of the past but I can cast a rueful glance back to the past. Shame there’s no download.
Blurb: Eat More Cake are a DJ/Production/Songwriting collective from Harrow in North-west London, whose sound incorporates elements of Dance, Chill-out and Hip-hop. Having received worldwide radio support and critical acclaim for their remix of Stardust’s “Music Sounds Better With You” and their genre-mashing debut EP “Climb The Ladder, Live The Dream”, the group have been hard at work in the studio cooking up a feast of new ideas and plotting their gradual, but inevitable, rise to world domination.
