Zadeh – Unknown
Since we had a Zadeh remix for Patterns In Plastic this afternoon, I thought we might check out a Zadeh original and a remix (yes, it’s The XX’ Angels again). Free download.
Zadeh is Samir Alikhanizadeh from Leeds, UK. Unknown, like the PiP remix, is a slow sort of ambient. But the Radiohead reference I made earlier feels even more apt here. The track has some acoustic guitar, treated vocals which end up like one of Thom’s strained efforts and found sound thuds. All very slow, insidious and beguiling.
And so to the remix. I wish it had been other than The XX. As Zadeh admits “I know it’s a bit late for the whole remixing craze of this song…” He calls the remix a “mess” which is plain wrong. It’s very much like The XX in some way. The remix is slower and more stuck in treacle than the original but given extra weight in the bass. Very atmospheric. But, something else next time, eh.
