Bon Iver Slow Waves Remixes
Following the 14th Minute’s remix of Holocene comes Slow Waves’ remixes of two Bon Iver tracks. Listen only.
Slow Waves appeared here before with some synth-based tunes. What this time? First up and best, a remix of Minnesota WI. This takes the opening steel guitar and plucked strings on a bassy journey that hovers midway between indie and dance. The vocals are a contrast between low profundo and high treble. Gives the whole thing a kind of 70s AOR multitracked feel. Pretty good if you liked Lemon Jelly’s ’64-’95 album.
Nest, and for me less successfully, a remix of Calgary. This comes over like a lush version of the Beach Boys with the multi-track harmonising. A bit syrupy.
