bkwsk – Basement Sentinel EP
Some new music from Spain. It’s available for free download and it’s garage. That might not be your thing but this is very well done and has a deep house influence.
bkwsk (bukowski) is Juan José Cerero from Seville, Spain. He’s released a new EP for free on Midnight Side records. This is classified as UK Garage. But it has much deeper tones and more grit than the usual stuff put out as Garage. There’s quite a bit of deep house and even some light techno.
Things As They Were starts gently before getting into its groove half way through. A confident start. Lovely synth stabs drive this one along. Sentinels is built round stabbing piano chords and a twisting synth melody. Very 90s house but very good. Shadows Are Made of Light ends the EP. This is the most Garage of the three but still has a welcome warmth and depth.
