Max Cooper – Basal Ganglia
A preview from Max Cooper’s forthcoming Inductions EP, out on 1 October.
It’s a rather different feel from his usual work. There’s little of the effortless smoothness, there’s a deliberate jarringness. Max explains that “This track is a bit of a joke, I just wanted to make something a bit odd and noisy for the dancefloor, something that would slap everyone round the face a bit to wake them up and put a smile on their face with some sillyness. Hence the silly name too, which is a real part of the brain, but one I always thought sounded funny.” The track has big bass squleches and a sort of sense of the disjointedness of Joy Division’s She’s Lost Control. But perhaps that’s me being fanciful, though basal ganglia are part of the brain associated with voluntary motor control.
