AuDio KoDe and Jad Cooper – Poppin Aint No Stoppin (Tom Stephan aka Superchumbo remix)
A review by D (now @danutakurk): Christ! It took me half an hour just to get the bloody title down. Don’t mind though because this is a really quite fine toe-tapping, head- nodding, leg-shaking, tech house mover that had me jigging along furiously about thirty seconds in and that can only be a good thing. It begins fairly innocuously with what sounds like a demented woodpecker hammering on a door before gathering pace and intensity and barrelling along like a train late for its destination. There’s a monotone quality to it and, bar a couple of breaks, the rythmn never deviates but it’s terribly addictive, the beats crisp and emphatic, and I’d be surprised if anyone could stay still with this on the turntable. Poppin aint no stoppin indeed.
Blurb: Brooklyn (NYC) is known for many things in the musical landscape. From hip hop to a now thriving tech house scene, it is only fitting that these two music genres mesh together for a summer time tech house music anthem. Audio KoDe, the Cavo Paradiso resident and Jad Cooper, fresh off his “Masai” release, team up once again and bring to you the aptly titled “Poppin Ain’t No Stoppin”. On board to handle remix duties are Brooklyn’s own Tony Rohr, the techno stalwart and London’s Tom Stephan aka Superchumbo. Both remixes have something different to offer; Tony’s remix takes us on a bass heavy underground techno journey, while Tom’s navigates us through big room madness. All brought to you by Kinetika Records!
