Ukkonen – Grey With Neon Reflections
When I saw there was a new Ukkonen track out, I simply had to post it. Free download.
Ukkonen’s The Isolated Rhythms Of… has been one the few albums I’ve bought this year (here). It’s one that has such a seemingly simple, yet in reality complex, structure that it bears repeated listens. There’s been a couple of months gap since the Disambedience Mix for this blog (here).
In an unpublished interview, Ukkonen has said of his music “I don’t write for the club or the headphone listener, I write because I know this music stimulates the mind in a unique way – I can’t pin down who it will appeal to, but I know when people get it, that it’s because of this mentally stimulating side of it.”
This new track not only has a more downbeat title than usual but a more unsettled, slightly disturbed feel reflected in the deep bass and unsettled strings. This is far cry from the the other worldly, self-contained The Isolated Rhythms Of… album. Not clear whether this is a change of style or mood. Lovely but not easy listening.

Really nice.
