Been six months since we had anything from Jack Deezl. Looks like he’s been making an album – Disillusion comes out in August. In the meantime, here’s the first single.

Jack’s work is a bugger to classify. My descriptions always end up dribbling away or incoherent. Let’s see which path I’m going down today. Jack describes this as “a pretty wild glitch hop track featuring loads of live instruments” Ummm… yeah… errr… no. In many ways, this is an instrumental rock track. It has the quiet/loud thing going, like the Pixies remixed by the Chems. There are guitars sprayed everywhere, with slightly hip hop beats. There are synths and strings. A cornucopia or cacophony? You decide. I’d say the former.

Funky glitch tune for free download. 

LabRat is Travis Egner-Williams from Santa Cruz, United States. His tunes all too often have that distorted electro / dubstep sound but this tune is much more palatable. This has a brilliant loose-limbed funky charm, with just a little glitching to keep it interesting. Nice one.

Japanese DJ, Takuya Kashiwada, is back with the second set of remixes from his Wear The God, Execute It album. After the Red Pt 1, we have Pt. 2 Yellow. More quality techno mixing. Out at the start of next month. Free mix to download.

With eight remixes in the package there’s almost too much to choose from. But since we started with a Syphon remix last time, let’s do so again. This remix, of World End Thoughts Will Come To An End, also takes a while to get going. It starts in a slightly atonal way and only gradually builds in some Detroit warmth. Fine track

Better even than that is Takuya’s own Extended DJ MIx of World End Thoughts Will Come To An End. This gives the track an epic dub techno rework that is the highlight of the package.

Should Have Known doesn’t follow the tech house path of some of Ian’s tunes but heads for a warmer deep house sound, with late night vibes. It’s the rhodes chords that give it that snuggled up under the duvet feeling. Lovely.

Here’s an epic track from the Antime label compilation that’s defined as synthtec. Midimum is label boss Martin Steer and Junk Beach is  an odd beast. It merges big synth sounds with a tech house dryness and a little psychedelia. There’s nothing shy or bashful about the track, it wants to be big and all encompassing. Succeeds.

There’s also a Last Minute version of the track, which halves the length and includes vocals. Makes more of the beach techno and psychedelic nature of the track but something gets lost in translation. Stick to the original.

The compilation is rounded off by raw musical diamonds from a range of different characters amongst them Owlet, Sebastian Dali, Relups, Unifono, Andy Mc Cornrich, Aplysia, Modemaps and Einer Weniger.
