“I’ve got something for your mind, your body and your soul.” The intro to an early house classic from 1989 by Adonte (A Bannerman).

A much sampled intro (not least by Primal Scream). But first used by Adonte in their early house hit “Dreams”. This was a huge hit in the UK and US, especially New York. Like so many others, he had started as a pirate radio DJ on Time FM (never heard of it) before moving into production. Despite Adonte’s success he produced few tracks overall and “Feel it” excepted, none as noteworthy. And then he faded from the scene. Today, Dreams sounds a bit cheesy wave-your-hands-in-the-air , but still worth a listen to go back to the early Balearic days.

According to his MySpace profile, he is back after 13 years of self-imposed exile (whatever that means) and is working on a new album. These days he’s into soul/house/nu-jazz. He says “The Demons are in pursuit of my soul; may my soul reach the music.”

So, wave your hands in the air:
