CHARITY SHOP CLASSICS (7)

A couple more tracks from the charity shop rummage. One well-known (Madonna), the other less so (Alpinestars).

First up the well-known one, Madonna. To celebrate her new album, here’s a track from her fertile period of collaboration with William Orbit (particularly on “Ray of Light”). The track is from the tiresome Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me film and was, I think, their last collaboration in that period. The remix is by New York DJ Victor Calderone, who was a favoured Madonna remixer in that period.

Next up, Alpinestars – who I’ve covered previously. They were krautpop duo Glyn Thomas and Richard Woolgar. From 2003, their last single “Burning Up”. The remix is by Differentgear (G Scaleti and Quinn Whalley) and makes the track sound like Underworld. The similarity of the vocal sound is quite uncanny.
