Some more soothing downtempo to start your day, from Simon Green’s Bonobo.

Simon Green’s Bonobo project may not have the respect it deserved from discriminating, forward-thinking electronica fans, but his melody-driven downbeat pop is still worth your time – in fact, second album “Dial “M” for Monkey” (2003) is more intriguing for its focus on melodies as well as samples. Breakbeats power most of the tracks, hardly surprising since it was released on Ninja Tune, though Green’s interests don’t lie in hip-hop or even trip-hop; his influences encompass alternative rock (“Something for Windy” is a bit like the Cure) and world music but not as obviously as someone like Banco de Gaia.
