CHARITY SHOP CLASSICS (19)

South Wales’ biggest group (with the Stereophonics) have been around for a long time – since the late 80s. From pretentious art rock to full on GnR rock outs they’ve done it all. Dull though much of their output is, they haven’t been afraid to let remixers near their work.
I’ve had a remix of a MSP track previously (by Apollo 440) but this time the remixers are Kinobe and Medicine on 2001 single “Ocean Spray”. Medicine are Luke Ezra May and Liam May. They started in the late 90s producing house with tough drum patterns. But by 2001 were much in demand as remixers although by 2002 they had disappeared. Kinobe are downtempo duo Julius Waters & Mark Blackburn who also started in the late 90s. Their big hit was with “Slip Into Something” used for a lager advert. Of the two, the Kinobe is less successful as it uses more of the vocals whilst the Medicine remix takes the original into new house territory.
