CHARITY SHOP CLASSICS (26)

Just the one from the charity shop today. A bit of advert pop music from Aqualung that has aged rather well, remixed by Bola and Steve Osborne.

Aqualung is Mattew Hales (b. 17 January 1972). He is an English singer and songwriter best known in the UK for his song “Strange And Beautiful”, which was featured on a television advertisement for the new Volkswagen Beetle during the summer of 2002 and went on to become a Top 10 hit in the UK singles chart later that year. In the United States, apparently Aqualung is also known for the song “Brighter Than Sunshine”, which had considerable airplay and was used in the film “A Lot Like Love” and various television spots. His new “Words and Music” album is out now.

And so we feature “Strange and Beautiful” which is a lovely delicate pop song with Matt’s haunting and yearning voice. The remixes are from Skam’s Bola (see post here) and Steve Osborne. Steve has been around since the early 1990s, mainly working with Paul Oakenfold. He has a long remix back catalogue, with artists from Finitribe, to Happy Mondays to The Shamen.
