This additional post to last week’s David Holmes Week partly fulfils a request. But the tracks are awful. You have been warned.

The request was for three remixes of David Holmes 1995 single “Gone”, featuring the vocals of St Etienne’s Sarah Cracknell. The first was the Alter Ego Pt 1 mix. This was only featured on the CDS release, which I didn’t buy. So, if the saintly stx is reading this, could he check if he has that mix – I bet he does. The other two were from the 12″ releases which I do have.

The mixes are by drum and basers Suburban Base and PFM. They both turn the delicate, dubbed out original into generic drum and bass tunes. Why? They show no feel for the original. There are standard skippy beats and flourishes. Yawn.
