L IS FOR LHOOQ

According to discogs: Lhooq name comes from a Marcel Duchamp painting of Da Vinci’s Monna Lisa with an added moustache. In true surrealist fashion, Lhooq should be spelled out in French: ‘Elle a chaud au cul’ which translates into ‘Her arse’s on fire’. Which is nice.
Lhooq were Jóhann Jóhannsson and Pétur Hallgrímsson. Jóhann Jóhannsson is one of the founders of Kitchen Motors, the art organization/think tank/record label which specializes in instigating collaborations, promoting concerts and exhibitions, performances, chamber operas, producing films, books and radio shows based on the ideals of experimentation, collaboration and the search for new art forms. Johann has produced and written music with artists as diverse as Marc Almond (“Stranger Things” album), Barry Adamson and Pan Sonic, Hafler Trio, The, Magga Stína and many others. He has also written music for the theatre, documentaries and soundtrack music for several feature films. He sounds arch and quite annoying.
