N IS FOR NEW ORDER (2)

Second post on New Order. This focuses on their forgotten millennium work.

Their 2001 release Get Ready largely departed from their more electronic style and focused on the more guitar oriented music. According to Sumner, “Get Ready was guitar-heavy simply because we felt that we’d left that instrument alone for a long time.” Longtime fan Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins played guitar and sang back-up on the track “Turn My Way,” and in 2001 toured with the band, deputising for Gillian. Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie provided vocals on the track “Rock the Shack.” Singles from the album included “Crystal,” “60 Miles an Hour,” and “Someone Like You.” This is the sound of a tired band, in the last throes of breaking up. But some interesting remixes emerged.

New Order – Someone Like you (Funk d’Void Mix)

New Order – 1963 (Lionrock Full Throttle) I know that isn’t from the millennium but I fancied including it.

New Order – Here To Stay (Felix da Housecat Mix)

Bonus track:
New Order – World (The Price Of Love) Sexy Disco Dub Perfecto Mix
