NEW MUSIC: DRLKT FREDDIE (CASEY SPOONER)

A dilemma. What to do? I really like Drlkt Freddie’s work. And he’s sent me a new remix. Yay. But it’s of Casey Spooner of Fischerspooner. Who’s work I  really dislike. Boo. Curiosity wins.

Blurb: Drlkt Freddie has remixed two songs off of Adult Contemporary, including “Faye Dunaway” and “Spanish Teenager,” with the latter featuring vocals by Jake Shears of the Scissor Sisters. Drlkt Freddie is a production group comprised of Van Scott and Jad Cooper, already remixing the likes of Sia, Larry Tee and Princess Superstar, in addition to releasing original material.

A message from Casey, who is currently finishing the USA leg of the Scissor Sisters show: “I am self releasing the album this week at these shows and digitally at CASEYSPOONER.COM…sign up for the mailing list for upcoming show dates and more info.”

The track starts “Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three.” which is all wrong. Really. Should start “Wun, Too, Free, Phowah.” and them BLAM into the guitars. But no. This starts so spartan and dry I have to swig coffee like its about to be banned. After some annoying monotone talkie stuff (I wasn’t listening), it finally gets going. And blow me down, if it isn’t a pleasant electro pop ditty by the end. Drlkt Freddie’s electro support saves Casey’s day.
