VARDIS – SILVER MACHINE

Yes, a cover of the Hawkwind classic. No, not electronic. More thrash metal. From 1981, by Northern NWOBHMers Vardis. They were from Wakefield. I love the brevity of the track. Removes all the hippiedom of the original.

  1. Jesus Ctel, this takes me back. I had the 100M.P.H album, the dble 7″ single of Let’s Go and this single. Steve Zodiac, eh, I wonder what ever happened to him?

  2. I have the 100MPH album too. As for Steve Zodiac, according to wiki “He prematurely quit Vardis in the mid 1980s (which resulted in outcry amongst rock n’ roll fans across Britain), due to mounting tensions between himself and several people within the music industry. He went to work extensively in sound engineering and theater, and is now thought to be living in London with his wife and children.”
