STRANGE DAYS

This post isn’t about the music. It’s about the times we live in. Living in London felt like waiting for something to happen last night. My normally busy high street was eerily quiet. The pub and the takeaways all closed. All boarded up. I double locked my door for the first time. Thankfully, nothing did happen. But that says nothing about tonight.

  1. There is no excuse for the looting, however yesterday I was down in the capital visiting the Royal Bromptom hospital in Chelsea and at lunch time I took a walk outside and was struck by the opulance of the area which was reinforced as I was driven back to city airport through the King’s Road. There weren’t a lot of signs of money problems in that part of London with all of the posh cafes full and loads of people shopping. Not a lot of “we’re all in this together going on there. If my nose was being rubbed in that every day I may be a bit angry as well.

But why shit on your own doorstep?

  2. One of my work colleagues lived above the carpet store in Tottenham that got burned down. He has lost everything (and I mean everything)other than the clothes he was in when he fled the oncoming mob. We had a collection at work for him today, a small attempt to start helping him get back on his feet. He’s a lovely chap, he works extremely hard. Kilburn High Road is closed down and it’s 3.45 on a Tuesday afternoon. My son is so scared at seeing all the police on the High Road, he won’t go to the park.
Sorry to get all Daily Mail but bring on the rubber bullets…
