NEW MUSIC: T-E-E-D – Dream On

This is another one of those, I-thought-it-would-be-crap-but-it-isn’t posts. Given it was bragging about an official remix of Lady Gaga can you blame me? And it was talking about working with Damon Albarn, which can be a synonym for pretentiousness. Finally, calling yourself Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs is a bit silly.

Dream On is available for free download, with one of those leave your email things. The track is, inevitably, terribly eighties influenced. But it wears those influences lightly. Like a one-man Hot Chip, this has pop overtones and a chewy elastic bass.  It’s as if T-E-E-D has selected the best elements of the electronic 80s, rather than revelling in the naffness.

Blurb: Fresh off releasing his official remix of Lady Gaga’s “Marry The Night,” Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (nee Orlando Higginbottom) has released a new song, “Dream On,” along with a short video that chronicles his studies of German telecommunications towers, shot while on tour this past summer. TEED made waves in the US last month with several critically-acclaimed performances at CMJ, followed by a full North American tour.  Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs swings between overt musicality and scarily on-point dance floor intuition, tearing up gigs around the globe with his live show of bizarre instruments, glitter cannons and of course… dancing dinosaurs. He also recently traveled to the Congo with Damon Albarn, who recruited him to be one of the producers for his DRC Music project, which saw a release via Warp Records on October 4th.
