NEW MUSIC: Jordan F – Summers Of Tomorrow EP
What a way to go into Christmas. A new synth EP from the consistently good Jordan F. And it’s free to download.
Jordan calls it “soundtracking a dystopian future” and everything about it screams soundtrack. Opener, Beginnings, is very much the opening credits to a big haired 80s Sci-Fi flick it its slow, synthy way. Makes me think of red jackets with the sleeves rolled up in a post-nuclear New York. Abandoned Streets takes a bigger bass approach but doesn’t quite get the menace, which feels intended, to work. Renegade rolls with a bassy undertow and hi-synth top. A more realised track. The better for sounding less like something from a soundtrack. Summers of Tomorrow ends the EP. Has that hopeful ending feel as our hero looks out over the far horizon as the sun comes up. This is very, very 80s. No concessions to anything more recent. And that may not be entirely a good thing.
