Daft Punk – Veridis Quo (Theatre Of Delays Remix)

Fancy some Daft Punk for a Saturday afternoon? Handy that Theatre of Delays has come up with one. And very good it is too. Free download.

Veridis Quo is a track from Daft Punk’s Discovery album, for which the track title is a punning version (there are other explanations relying on Latin translations but these seem unlikely). The original track is cute but never quite takes off. Theatre of Delays calls the remix baroque pop. Baroque feels right, in that there is an underlying quite classical structure. But pop sells it a little short.  This is no disposable remix, it is a cracking mix of fizzy excitement and washes of lovely light synths. Always upbeat, this exceeds the slight original.
