Todd Terry – Samba (Organic Chemist Rework)

Todd Terry’s Samba by House of Gypsies got remixed as part of a competition. The winning remixes have been released as an album. Here’s one, by Organic Chemist, in a Latin trance style. Way better than that might sound.

Organic Chemist is C Ellis from Texas. He describes this rework as Latin trance. Now, Latin House is not exactly my favourite genre, so I came to this with low expectations. Not helped by the fact that I wasn’t terribly keen on the original Todd Terry mix. But this is really good. It is Latin in style but has a tech edge which stops it becoming too sugary, plus some trance styling – but this is old skool trance of whooshes, not the latter abomination.
