kORBian – levit8tion EP

Here’s a debut EP from kORBian, out now via Beatport. We’ve got an exclusive deep house track for you to listen and an interview.

kORBian is Ian Hobbs from Chelmsford. He says he’s “a self declared purveyor of tech, deep & progressive house” which kind of prepares you for what to expect from his EP. Although he claims tech house leanings, this isn’t a coldly tech EP. There’s much more of a deep house warmth that pervades all the tracks. It’s also no EP from a noob with all the faults that this implies. It’s a fully formed EP.

Enough blah from me. What of the tracks? The track we have as an exclusive for you is the EP’s opener gravit8. Ian says “this best represents the mood of the EP and the state of creative process I was in at the time...” Dunno about the creative process but it does represent well the rest of the EP. This is 8 minutes of deep house but with a slight air of tech house. It’s almost a game of two halves. The first half has a kind of cowbell refrain that carries the tune in an uplifting manner. Ther second half almost goes downbeat and more reflective. Lovely stuff.

Clips of the whole EP here

Blurb: taken from my debut EP ‘ levit8tion’ – this track best sums up the general mood of the EP, deep house with infectious hooks that leave you nodding your head and wanting more… available to buy/download via Beatport (click on the OUT NOW ON BEATPORT button) and Juno (from 25/02/13) with a further release via iTunes on 11/03/13…. all support appreciated…. ≥nJ0y.

  1. […] a long time ago since Ian Hobbs’ debut EP featured here. But it was only February. This new EP is, if anything, deeper into deep house than the last one. […]
