Pretty Lights – Finally Moving -Lance Herbstrong Remix Feat Jimi Hendrix

Sundays are a chance for something different. And while I work out what to cook for my mother and wife, you have a listen to this Jimi-sampling dance track. Free download via facebook.

I know that his All Along The Watchtower has been used a few times as the basis of dance samples but I couldn’t help but be beguiled by this version. There’s something about the vocals and guitar, overlaid with Etta James, and the lazy, bassy beats that simply works. For some reason, this tune makes me want to have a barbeque.

And, while you’re about it, have Lance Herbstrong’s remix of Thievery Corporation’s “Pela Janela” (also free download)

Last summer, as we were road trippin, we were listening to Pretty Lights.
Finally Moving came on and Pete (Peter Di Stefano of Porno For Pyros) said it sounded like JImi Hendrix. He grabbed his guitar and started strumming All Along The Watch Tower as it played..

“No reason to get excited,”

The thief, he kindly spoke

“There are many here among us

Who feel that life is but a joke…

We struggled with the Etta James sample…. To be honest, it’s played out, over-used and we spent months over-thinking it. We worried the over-use of it would take away from the beauty of two legendary musicians singing to each other from the grave. As we stood on the stage at Wakarusa last summer watching Pretty Lights with our team and friends.. Derek played Finally Moving. Watching the crowd singing “sometimes I get a good feeling” together in the beautiful Ozark mountains we knew we had to leave it in.

Enjoy!
