REMIXING CLASSICS: Candi Staton – You Got The Love (Elliot Adamson Remix)

I have to say, heretical though it may be, that I might be the only person who doesn’t like the original of this track. Eliot Adamson sets out to subvert it. He delays the vocal, so she sounds as if she’s coming from a wind tunnel, losing a desperate fight to control her hair-do. Everything’s slowed into industrial awkwardness.
