extremely delicate and light in a way that seems not to be of this world

Test Valley-20140416-00043

That being a definition of “ethereal“, a word beloved of musicians and critics. A quick search on Acid Ted shows I’m not averse to using it myself. And yet, there’s something over-used and a bit lame in it. I guess we forget that the other meaning is “(of a solution) having diethyl ether as a solvent” and so the word dissolves meaning as a descriptor. Which means I’m going to avoid it with this trance progressive house tune from Artec. Free download (via fb).

Here’s something described as an ethereal edit. But don’t be fooled. This is an upbeat progressive house tune with a slightly dreamy or trance female vocal. Instead of flirting with ambient, this tune wants to stake its claim to the dancefloor as a proper peak time tune. Can’t blame or fault the ambition.

Porter Robinson, Mat Zo, Marcus Schossow – Sea Of Voices Dilate Summer Nights (Artec & Triarchy Edit)

An ethereal edit I made with @triarchy of three tracks by three amazing producers: Porter Robinson – Sea Of Voices; Mat Zo – Time Dilation; Marcus Schossow – King of Summer Nights
