Fold – Be Water My Friend

You want funky? You want this new track from Fold. There’s trumpets, brass, guitars, beats and Bruce Lee samples. A bit like The Go! Team  A fabulously heady concoction.

Out on 23 June. Pre-order here:

Blurb: Initially constructed from samples as a demo Fold’s new single takes Trip-hop to a different level by re-orchestrating and recording the whole track in a studio using live instruments. With a nod to 70s funk the inspirational & humanitarian musings of the one and only Bruce Lee are backed by breakbeats, bass, guitar, shakers, 3 piece horn section and a haunting vibraphone melody. In order to preserve a natural groove no click track was used during the recording.

On May 22, 2014 Dave Rowntree of Blur made it his record of the week on XFM calling it “so interesting, so original.” Both Don Letts and Gideon Coe have been spinning it on BBC 6 Music along with WFUV’s Kara Manning in New York and numerous local stations across the UK.

Be Water My Friend will be issued on new Leeds imprint All My Friends as a split 7” with label mates Invisible Hands & their debut single Just.

  1. Loving this.

Added bonus “Be Water” has become the retort of choice at the walker ranch. It’s up there with ‘You Are’ to fit any situation yet always with a slightly different twist.
