Behind Yr Face / Invisible Statues

behindyrface

Post-techno. Techno, once the genre of the future is something about which we are now “post”. False Colors are a duo from Nashville who make post techno. They’ve a chilled electronic approach and have a two track single for free download from their forthcoming album (Vanishing Ink).

Behind Yr Face suffers from the usual vowel less affliction. False Colors claim inspiration from Detroit techno, Brian Wilson and Yellow Magic Orchestra. Well, it’s YMO who provide the inspiration for this tune. It’s got that neo-Oriental synths and a military riffle to the beats. But then they go and add a hip hop vocal, which leaves the tune in no-man’s land. Invisible Statues is the better of the two. There’s a noirish love scene element to it, with acres of strings. And, a South American humidity from the guiro.
