I’m anaspeptic, phrasmotic, even compunctious to have caused you such pericombobulation

Made up words can be such fun. Though all words are made up really. Take ‘Addictionary’. (n) A steadily growing list of made-up words invented by people who feel compelled to take an active part in the development of language.

Vampire Pop Strategy, on the other hand, don’t have such a sanguine view of language, with their new single Fuck These Made Up Words. I’m not sure what caused such ire. I’m tempted to ask if there’s anything I can do to facilitateĀ their velocitous extramuralisation.

In the meantime, let’s turn our attention to the B side, for that is where the real action is. Whistles Over Baghdad is a slightly dodgy title but the track is top drawer. Yes, there are whistles. But the focus of the track is the endlessly buzzing acid bass line. VPS claim inspiration from Acid House and this is how to do something that draws inspiration but avoids mere aping, to come up with a deep twisting techno tune in which to get 3am lost. Excellent.
