Blue Soul – Sinister Ana

Scott Boutin, aka Blue Soul, provides some enjoyable, not to mention highly strung, acid techno on his new EP.

Notwithstanding the mid-tempo pace, Sinister Ana oozes anxiety and darkness from the get go. An unforgiving orotund bass punches its rhythmn throughout, while thick, squelchy acid beats and squealing synths engage in a melodic, albeit threatening, dance, the pace and intensity increasing briefly before subsiding to a sullen halt.

Second track, ‘The Menacing’ ups the paranoia quotient with fierce, warped acid beats, sinister synths and uncompromising beats producing a relentless, vehement yet hugely danceable track. Dark, neurotic and very appealing.
