Fold – Human Again

The Leveson Inquiry took lots of evidence on third party complaints from Women’s Groups, Travellers Groups and others who wanted to have the ability to bring third party complaints against newspapers (i.e. on behalf of groups, not individuals). Newspapers resisted on the basis that this would adversely affect their right to comment on events and issues by miring them in complaints. And the issue more than any other about which they were concerned was Israel and Palestine. It is therefore with some trepidation that I’m posting this track by Fold which seeks to donate all money from purchases of their track Human Again to providing medical aid to civilian casualties in Gaza. They say “We do not align ourselves with political entities – we align ourselves with human beings”. If that still seems too one-sided, given the rockets fired at Israel, can I suggest that you donate instead to Children of Peace which “seeks to protect all of the children and their communities in Israel and Palestine – regardless of culture, faith, gender or heritage.”

The tune’s great downtempo but in the circumstances that seems slightly beside the point.

Blurb: All money from purchases of this song will be donated to organisations providing emergency medical aid to civilian casualties in Gaza. The primary beneficiaries we have chosen are the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA) and Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP).

Please pay whatever you feel is appropriate for our song:

“The Middle Eastern Children’s Alliance is a non-profit organization working for the rights of children in the Middle East by sending humanitarian aid, supporting projects for children and educating North American and international communities about the effects of the US foreign policy on children in the region.”

“Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. MAP delivers health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation and displacement. Working in partnership with local health providers and hospitals, MAP addresses a wide range of health issues and challenges faced by the Palestinian people. With offices located in Beirut, Ramallah, Jerusalem and Gaza City, MAP responds rapidly in times of crisis, and works directly with communities on longer term health development.”
