I should be checking my in-box properly. Goodness knows what’s getting lost in the hundreds of unopened emails. But sod it. I’m going to please myself and have a couple of Mono Life tunes.
First, a new demo. Oh Yeah Oh Yeah which Mono Life introduces with the overly-casual “You could listen if you like…or just ignore it if you prefer x”. This is a great track. It’s artlessly brilliant. Chipmunked vocal sample set against deep robotic voice (sounds like a manipulated throat singing sample) riveted together with assertive bass and a louche attitude. There’s something thrillingly winning and positive about this. In her heyday, D would have gone mental in a bass bin for this.
Secondly, a remix of The Music by Cad & Bounder, which my son rather harshly said “Don’t like dat“. Rather harsh. I think what he was trying to say is that if you liked the French disco house of the original the scuzzed air of this remix may come as an unwelcome surprise. Taken on its own merits, it’s just fine. The track is taken from the forthcoming DISCO/MUSIC EP.
