New Year Countdown – 4

July and August saw me transition from one short term job to another that I thought would be longer term. Musically, July centred on some bit of Detroit techno house blending with deep house from Karizma. I said “This claims to have been road tested in clubs. You can believe it as it has that rolling, ensnaring feel, full of dubbed bass lines. Beautiful.”

August was a summery John Talabot remix. I said “Spanish producer John Talabot is one of those I see others intermittently raving about but whose work has never made me rush to explore more. Here, he takes on Bicep’s Satisfy in two remixes – one a free download. There’s something of the Weatherall slow disco groove about these that makes them rather appealing.

The Rainmix version is tagged as trance but that’s a bit of a misnomer. It’s one of those spaced out disco tunes that’s almost undanceably slow and off kilter. But it makes for wonderful listening. Music for sunrises. The Alt mix is a bit more uptempo and nu disco house cute. This isn’t on the proper release and is available as a free download via Bandcamp. I really ought to explore Talabot and Bicep further.”
