Binary Emotions

Belfast city hall dawn

It’s been a while, but Michael Lovatt returns with his Binary Emotions EP, including a remix from Marshall Watson. The EP isn’t out until next month but there are some clips to enjoy.

Waves opens the EP on a soft techno note, accompanied by a bit of IDM blip and bleepery. Pulse wanders even more off piste away from techno and into static-filled, jittery IDM. Rather fine track. Reduction marks a change of pace. And that change is downwards into a soft, wheezy ambient lost place. Lovely. The title track is a delight. A shimmering leftfield house gem.

The remixes come from Mani Manuka and Marshall Watson. Muni Manuka gives Waves an awkward, off-kilter direction. Perhaps a bit too awkward to love. Marshall Watson takes on Reduction. Slightly surprisingly, he takes the track from it’s more ambient origins and refits it for the dance floor. Full of assertive synths and glittery rhythm.
