To use a footballing cliche, here’s a game of two halves. Koronis’ new LP has an A side that’s drum and bass in a style akin to Giraffe or Mako. That’s fine but the real find is the B side where dnb gives way to a gloomy gothic ambient.

This starts with Cling whose bass tones are heavily held and piano drifts sadly over the top. Silken creaks unhappily, with random whirs and alien body parts. Kara offers upbeat x-factor pop, with a vocal so perky you could balance your tea on it. Not really. This torture chamber aftermath reeks of sadness. Depressing but in a fun way. Really.
