Tracks of my year: March

Two tracks today that have in common a softness of approach, from the gentle dub techno of Mown to the chilled electronica of Nemea. Both free downloads.

First, Mown. This unreleased track is a beautiful example of the dub techno genre. I said “I Prefer to Walk Alone fizzes with charged static. The dub is deep and true, with all you want in a bass. It owes more to the ambient antecedents of Basic Channel than to techno. This is most definitely a tune to watch clouds go by.”

Secondly, Nemea. I said “Bare (Pt 1) is piano, cello and some hushed electronics in a hauntingly beautiful combination. As my son would say, “Super chilled.”
