Experimental chill from AC GRUNS
Here’s an experimental chill EP from AC GRUNS. Hailing from Portland Oregon, this takes elements of house, techno and downtempo and runs it through a far from the madding crowd blender to give something that is quite off the track.
Opener, Lotus Breath is full of crispy crackles and bassy broken beats to leave a concoction as hazy and ephemeral as your breath in winter. Go breathe it in
K Map tries to pull the same trick with head nodding beats married to a rave / techno insistence. Doesn’t quite come off. The marriage not destined to last.
The EP closes with Time and Space Shuffle. A more spritely affair than the other two, this ends up as a warped jazz funk. More intellectually satisfying than emotionally engaging.
If only for The pleasures of Lotus Breath I will be looking out for more from AC GRUNS. You might want to do the same.
