Rubidium – Kitzflapper EP

What in Techno’s name is a Kitzflapper? I’m almost afraid to see if it’s on urban dictionary. But as an EP from Rubidium it’s some Spartan techno that doesn’t go all the way to minimal. There’s bits of Detroit, flashes of acid and a bit of Berlin. Fiercely underground and unwilling to compromise.

Kitzflapper comes over like some dusty early acid track. All machine and no soul. That’s a good thing by the way. LLAP gives it echoed tension and wobbled bass. They Are Watching Us has more ripple to it and is a less unforgiving track. More Berlin dub than Detroit electronics. The EP ends with Chainsmoker’s Blitzkrieg remix of Kitzflapper. Staccato machine gun drums set against high anxiety strings. You’re not going to dance to it but you would have to bow down to it.
