Future Loop Foundation ‘Sandcastles on Salinas’
The return of Future Loop Foundation with Sandcastles on Salinas. Ibiza chill for the terminally relaxed.
It’s been a very long time since Future Loop Foundation’s 2008 album The Fading Room. That was a fantastic album constructed using recordings from family interviews that had lain dormant in an attic somewhere in the north of England for almost a quarter of a century. The album should have been huge and I’d urge you to buy it now.
I haven’t the foggiest what Mark Barrott has been doing in the intervening eight years but from seeming nowhere comes this new one. Sandcastles on Salinas is a lovely thing, little pastoral bloops reminiscent of Ultramarine and the smell of Balearic suntan lotion. Hard to make a judgement on a single track. But lovely as this is, and it is lovely, it doesn’t quite capture the magic or distinctiveness of The Fading Room.
